9 to 5

sometimes i forget how much simpler it was being a student. i get that i put countless hours into essays, projects presentations and studying but regardless i did things on your own time, pace and leisure. real life is nothing like that. although i dont work a standard work day, after 8 hours on my feet i am fully exhausted. the fact that last night i decided it would be brilliant to hit up the local watering hole/slum bar and get wasted off of their cheapest white, pinot of course, doesnt make my day any easier. can you say raging hangover.

what i am really trying to get at is university life. every school has its stereotypes and as for western they are practically set in stone. one person in particual is doing a class act job of insuring that the rest of the world is well aware that there is only one day of the week in london that you dont go out, tuesday, but in toronto i can make it happen.

you gotta give this girl some credit, she really knows what it is to be the most typical western girl that exists.

leprechaun man leprechaun man

wheres my pot of gold. lets all go back to university when times were simpler and our most urgent concerns were if american apparel still had any items in stock and whether or not we should eat the pancakes at a kegger. missing london today and all the glory of the binge drinking days.

i ♥ walmart

after four years of classes based on human rights, small scale economies and the culture of capitalism one would assume that i would be a tree hugging, birkenstock wearing, patchouli smelling new age hippy. alas, my education in global studies has pushed me into the arms of the enemy; consumerism at its best, retail sales.

i have noticed now more than ever that product placement is without a doubt invading every portion of my life. i cannot watch a movie, read an article in a newspaper or listen to a song without being bombarded by undermining sales tactics. im pretty sure every person in the world was confused as to whether or not b spears made a music video or an ad when she released her new pop sensation 'hold it against me'. not only does she look like a super freak tramp i dont think she could have promoted more products if she actually just played adverts for the duration of her song.

but then again there is something about merchandising and marketing that i love. after only a few weeks i have learnt how product display changes the sales figures of a company from one day to the next and simple brand knowledge makes you seem like a fashion guru. people all over the world are consumed by a constant urge, to have more. we are driven to always think that bigger is better, faster is necessary and whoever has the most is winning (charlie sheen style). so as i start my career path (very slowly) i hope that people never change. fashion trends will come and go and as will your wardrobes and hopefully at some point i will have a say as to what goes into them.

i was in oaxaca for the 100th anniversary of the revolution and they celebrated by heading down to the zocalo and spraying the shit out of each other with some aerosol canned substance that was a mix between silly string and shaving cream. i should become the official importer, how i plan on making my first million.

mood rings, weather patterns and all things blue

isnt it weird that rain can just put you in the worst mood. its been raining in toronto for a full week, 7 days of rain. wtf.

today it finally stopped and then it snowed. greattt. regardless i managed to get my act together last night and ended up at zippers, a gay bar, with many crazy fit sweaty shirtless men. it was fantastic. it was like an instant dose of vitamin d, sunshine in a bottle/dancefloor.

moral of the story, i have neglected my blog due to a of lack of inspiration, work overload and precipitation. im just going to explore new joints every weekend. this week zippers next week house of lancaster.

the bug

i have wonder lust. there is nothing i love to do more then travel and explore. there is something about the hands on experience that comes from being an outsider and finding your way through the unknown that surrounds you. its a force that drives me.

my most recent travels were so fantastic, i wish i could relive them everyday. living in london was a way to discover what it is that i enjoy most. i visited every gallery, art show, various speakers and many, many parks. i love nature, photography, cider and laughing. i would try to go to regent park and sketch but get distracted by the rose garden and write down all the different varieties and fantastic names that each patch had been given; nostalgia, belle epoque, remember me...

mostly from living in london i learned to walk. i walked everywhere. even if it would take me two hours, its not like i was in any rush, i wasnt meeting anyone or on a strict time limit. i discovered the perfect streets, coffee shops and pubs on every corner in every neighborhood. i was just so content, the happy wanderer.

'curiosity and transition- thats what keeps us young' -vera wang

all things taken into account im going to be young forever, like peter and the lost boys.

shout outs to jason, enjoy every last second.
